J. Spinkz
J.Spinkz is a rapper making waves in the North East live music scene. He is known as being a rapper, songwriter, singer and urban poet. He is currently spending time working on his debut mixtape, '#TheSpinkzTape'.
After growing up in Sheffield I decided to move to Newcastle late 2017 to live with a friend' it took me almost a year to find local rappers and the ‘SceNE’ in general. After performing at different open mic events across Newcastle, Gateshead and South Shields ran by 'WRIGHTMUSICMANAGMENT.' I have met some incredibly talented people who I've also been lucky enough to work with and can now call my friends.

In 2018 I met local legend 90BRO at a GXNG event and through messaging on social media we became quite close. I'll be eternally grateful for the love and support he's given me over the last 2 years. It was a personal goal of mine to work with him and last year I was able to make that happen. Myself, 90BRO, Arcana Soakes and Jack Hutch made a 4 track E.P at my house, a project we called ‘Loft Music Vol.1’. It was written and recorded in my loft bedroom the night after my birthday.
I met the Irish enigma that is Arcane Soakes at a NATO music video shoot back in 2018. We both lived in Newcastle and had an interest in Film and Graphic Design. Together, with Left Blank, we began working on collaboration tracks, filming each other’s music videos and going to open mic nights together. We quickly developed a good understanding of each other’s work and would jump in each other’s sets to do cyphers, which always got a good reaction – regardless of where we were or who was in the crowd.

We decided to form a three piece collective under the name Throne Bound and released our first track ‘Bridges’ in 2020.
I now live in Heaton with fellow rappers, Eddie K, who I met through NE Rising and Too Common. It feels kinda surreal. When I moved here I literally only knew one person and now I feel like I’ve got a second family up here.
The people and the music have made Newcastle a second home to me and I truthfully couldn’t be more proud of my adopted city.
An experience I’ll remember forever happened on an open mic night. There was a very heavy set bloke there who I’d say was somewhere between late 30’s early 50’s.
He went absolutely mental during my set.
When I was performing my song, ‘Lanes Change’ he took his shirt and shoes off and danced his head off. It was quite hard to tell if he was very intoxicated or just loving my set.
